Master of Science in Management in Finance (MS Finance)
Today’s business climate demands individuals who are equipped to manage the intense world of finance. The Weatherhead MS Finance is a specialized program focusing on the principles of finance and their applications within the corporation, capital markets, investments and risk management.
A logical complement to prior education or work experience, the MS Finance is designed to prepare candidates for professional careers in the finance industry or in the finance function of business organizations. Students immerse themselves in an innovative curriculum that provides strong foundations in finance principles and practices, coupled with mentoring by faculty and industry practitioners, with immediate application to future work areas, including:
- Commercial, retail and investment banking
- Investment management, brokerage firms, security analysis, hedge funds
- Capital markets, derivatives, risk management and financial consulting
- Mergers & acquisitions, private equity, venture capital, corporate restructuring
- Corporate planning, budgeting, strategic planning and corporate treasury
The program can be completed in about a year. It provides individuals with an intense focus in finance which results in a distinct advantage in today's work environment. Attainment of the MS Finance is an ideal path for individuals who may consider pursuing an MBA -- or studying MS degrees in multiple areas.

Faculty
The MS Finance program draws upon Weatherhead’s world-class banking and finance and economics faculty, as well as from other departments, including accounting, marketing and policy studies and operations
research . Each of these departments has a strong history of
having a significant impact in their respective disciplines. The operations and
the organizational behavior groups were the first departments in the world
to start Ph.D. programs in their respective disciplines, and they have produced
a stream of world famous leaders in the profession, including a Nobel prize
winner.
The Weatherhead School's banking and finance faculty have a wide range of research interests, from the microstructure of the stock markets, derivative markets and risk management to corporate and bank mergers. Each faculty member offers advanced courses in the research area in which they work.
Our full-time faculty is supplemented by visiting professors and adjunct faculty, drawn from the Federal Reserve Bank and major financial institutions in the region.
