Our Expertise

Ranked best overall Organizational Behavior Department in the world for the past five years.
(Financial Times, 2003-2007)

Custom Solutions begin with a clean sheet of paper and evolve into a learning experience that reflects the business issues and challenges your organization faces. Over the years however, organizations have recognized that we bring a specific expertise to the table. We understand that business leaders need to be prepared to embrace an increasingly complex and competitive business environment. At Weatherhead, we believe that the best way to approach this challenge is to leverage the strengths and potential of individuals and the organization as a whole—our research and experience proves it.

At our clients’ request, strength-based approaches to leadership and organizational development are core to many of the Custom Solutions we design. These approaches center around three key areas:

Developing Leadership through Emotional Intelligence (E.I.)

Great leaders move us through basic human processes—our emotions.  Research has shown that exceptional leaders, executives and managers are not just smart or lucky, but more frequently rely on their Emotional Intelligence.  Emotional Intelligence is the ability to understand, motivate and develop yourself and others.

Weatherhead is a leader in empirical research on E.I. leadership competencies.  We have developed a portfolio of programs focused on creating and sustaining E.I. competencies among leaders in today’s most competitive business environments. Under the direction of Richard E. Boyatzis, Ph.D., Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Weatherhead School of Management and acclaimed expert and author on Emotional Intelligence—Weatherhead is the only business school in the world that teaches these competencies with a proven track record.

Leading Positive Organizational Change through Appreciate Inquiry (A.I.)

There’s a revolution in the way organizations drive strategic change and sustainable growth.  Appreciative Inquiry (A.I.) is redefining the way companies and individuals experience transition by focusing on the core strengths of an organization and leveraging those strengths to reshape its future. A.I. is the art and practice of asking the right questions – those that allow an organization to tap into its most powerful positive potential.  It engages all levels of an organization in defining what the organization is, what it can become and how to get there.

Under the direction of Appreciative Inquiry co-creators Dr. David L. Cooperrider and Dr. Ronald Fry, Appreciative Inquiry has led well-known national and international private companies, public corporations and non-profit organizations to unimagined successes by creating a more positive framework for change.

Creating Sustainable Value

Business approaches that integrate economic, environmental and social dimensions are creating the most innovative business opportunities of our time. At Weatherhead, our strength-based approach to creating sustainable value allows organizations to recognize the successes that already exist in these areas and build on them to achieve a more sustainable future.
