The Richard Shatten Public Policy Case Competition

How much do the residents of Cuyahoga County value access, recreation and educational opportunities at Dike 14?

Dike 14 is an 88 acre Landmass that was constructed from dredge material taken from the Cuyahoga River by the Army Core of Engineers. Left alone, trees and plant life have grown on the penninsula, making it a welcome habitat for over 284 species of birds, as well as other creatures such as fox, deer, and a variety of butterflies. Advocates for the space have suggested building raised walkways and opening the site to the public as an environmental education resource. The task for the class is to discover how much Cleveland residents value such an asset
